Some General Knowledge in LED Field

1970-01-01

With great desire to share you some general knowledge about LED, hereby some professional terms explanation for your reference.

Beam Angle - Is a measure of the conical width of light from a light source and is measured in degrees. The smaller the number of degrees the narrower the beam and the larger the degrees the wider the beam.

Candela (cd) – The luminous intensity as defined by the international metric standard (SI). The term, retained from the early days of lighting, defines a standard candle of a fixed size and composition as a basis for evaluating the intensity of other light sources.

Efficacy – (Luminous Efficacy) – The light output of a light source divided by the total electrical power input to that source, expressed in lumens per watt (lm/W).

Warm White – A description of light with a correlated color temperature between 3000K and 3500K, usually perceived a slightly yellow.

Thermal management – Controlling the operating temperature of the product through design, examples includes heat sinks and improved airflow

Life-span – The average Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF). Lifespan specific to LED refers to how long the LED will last at 100% brightness. After 50,000 hours the LED will still emit light but will decrease 50% in light output over the next 50,000 hrs.

There are much more valuable information in OKT lighting news. Hope above information is helpful for you.
